So it's no surprise that when you go to a concert, theres usually a coner thrown in there somewhere, and at indie rock concerts there seems to be a pattern of the obligatory "ironic" pop song cover done by said indie rock band. However i have noticed a trend with the same Britney Spears song being covered. This crosses genres here, and it's fascinating to me. Why this song out of all the songs out there is this one recognizable enough that when played on a violin and mandolin, piano or rapped, everyone recognizes it? I suppose thats how much pop culture infiltrates us without us even knowing it. But why does everyone want to cover this specific song? Does this song actually have redeeming qualities that we just couldn't ever see before because Britney sang it?
