after a 2 and a hald long flight, a 3 hour layover an another 8 hour flight, we finally arrived here on Oa'hu last night around 5pm Hawaii time. ^ hours behind made me feel insanely tired, yet we made it over to the food court area to eat something before passing out.
We woke up really early this morning, had breakfast and went to the Honolulu Zoo, which was really nice. It was, as most of waikiki seems to be, very clean and well kept.
Then we made it to the beach. We went to Waikiki beach. you know that postcard? yeah, the one with the clear blue water, white soft sands, a volcano on one side and banks of palm trees on the other. We were IN that postcard. It was so surreal, like when going to the grand canyon and realizing it just looks like wallpaper in person. It was amazing! I was able to get away with just a tiny spot of redness on ym shoulder closest to the sun got burnt but htats all. impressive since i'm paper white!
The time change is kicking my ass today, so we hung out for a while in our beautiful hotel, and then went to dinner. We are passing out now, and going to the Pearl Harbor Museum tomorrow morning. The museum building itself is situated over the sunken ship where many died, in the water. I guess i don't really know much more than the basics about this event, so it should be interesting.
There's some rumblings about going out on a boat tomorrow, and snorkeling above the reef. But we'll see.
Oh, and randomly, there is a small synagogue located in the hotel we are staying in, owned by the Habbad. I ran into someone who is a member, and i believe i will be going to services saturday morning. It was a bit strange to be walking past the room in my bathing suit this morning, seeing people wrap tefinlin...
The internet connection is too slow to post pictures today, but i will figure it otu tomorrow when i'm not half alseep, so i will post some to flickr soon
