reunion

I was out last night at Bob and Barbara's, where i unbelievably ran into a handful of guys i used to live and work with out at Arcosanti from 1997-99. All but two of them don't even live in this state, and one of them in japan. They had sort of stayed in touch over the years and managed to put together a make shift reunion weekend in Philly, that i happened to accidentally run into. So we spent about 5 drunk minutes staring at each other trying to imagine how it was possible we were all standing in this dive bar in south philly together 10 years later, when we made the plan to go out for dinner tonight.
So that's where i was this evening. At Marakesh in philly. (for the record, morrocan food takes 7 courses and three hours to eat!) It was all at once exciting, bizarre, comforting and surreal. We spent the better part of 4 hours and reminicing about such tings as human bowling, the beach we made in the desert or all the scary bugs and snakes we ran into. And we caught each other up on misc other arco people we had been in touch with.
It felt like the opposite of every other convorsation i've ever had with anyone since i left there. Instead of trying to explain the experience and never feeling like i have conveyed it well, instead, this was the base from which we all came from, and there was too much to tell of our lives that have happened since then.
It was strangely comforting to sit around and look at all those people that i used to

live and work with, and frankly kill time with.
highlights of stories recalled this evening:
1: hey, remember the time Mangan and I stole the life sized r2d2 ice bucket from the circle K and then filled it with mead? yeah, i can't believe we drank that crap for weeks...
2. hey, remember the time we pulled over off the interstate in norhtern arizona and those creepy guys tried to sell us a tour to see the dinasaur footprints?
3. hey, remember the time we built that hot tub but never realized it needed a filter? yeah, that was gross...
4. you know i always though Cosanti would be such a great place to shoot a porn. Yeah, and Hannes could come out of the foundry in a gimp costume...

Some people have college reunions but i garuntee they're never as good as this.
